What it is
SNAP-8, also called acetyl octapeptide-3, is a lab-made skincare peptide. It is a slightly longer cousin of Argireline, built by adding to that ingredient, and it belongs to the same family meant to calm the tiny nerve signals that make expression lines. It is sold as a cosmetic ingredient, not as an approved medicine.
What people use it for
People put it in face serums, creams, and patches to try to soften fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the forehead and eyes. It is often combined with Argireline and Matrixyl in the same skincare products.
What the science shows
The published research is limited to small cosmetic-formulation studies looking at how it affects the look of skin, such as eye-area wrinkle patches. That is a much weaker evidence base than the studies behind systemic or injectable medicines, and much of the data comes from product testing.
The catch
This is a topical (on-the-skin) ingredient only and is not meant to be injected. There is no FDA-approved SNAP-8 drug. Using an injectable form falls outside any approved use and is not supported by published research.
