What it is
FGL is a lab-made peptide, which is a short chain of the building blocks that make up proteins. It copies a small piece of a natural brain molecule called NCAM (neural cell adhesion molecule) that helps brain cells link up and talk to each other. It is sold as a research chemical, not as an approved medicine.
What people use it for
In nootropic (brain-boosting) circles, people bring it up for brain rewiring, stroke recovery, and repairing thinking ability. Actual real-world use of it is rare.
What the science shows
The published work so far is in lab dishes and animals, where FGL stirred up brain stem cells and improved the way brain circuits adapt and strengthen. There is no human evidence that it improves memory, recovery, or brain repair.
The catch
FGL is not approved by the FDA for any use. The brain-growth and cognition claims come from cell and animal studies only and have not been shown to work in people.
