What it is
Goralatide, also called Ac-SDKP, is a tiny natural piece of protein (a four-part chain called a tetrapeptide) that the body makes by snipping it off the end of a larger protein named thymosin beta-4. It is not an FDA-approved medicine for any condition. It is studied and traded as a research chemical, not a finished drug.
What people use it for
In lab and animal studies it has been looked at for calming inflammation and slowing fibrosis, which is the build-up of stiff scar tissue inside organs such as the heart, lungs, and kidneys. People interested in protecting those organs from scarring sometimes look at it for that reason.
What the science shows
Most of the supporting evidence comes from rodent (rat and mouse) studies, not from people. The handful of human studies have been small and early, and the most advanced one tested it as part of a kidney-function test rather than as an approved treatment. There is no large, strong proof that it works or is safe in humans.
The catch
